Mozart left his Requiem unfinished at his death. The most frequently performed completion is by his student Franz Xaver Süßmayr.
In 2015, Jeffrey Ching composed a new completion of the Requiem, arranged for chamber orchestra and solo bass and mezzo soprano, drawing extensively on Gregorian plainchant and music of the Qing Dynasty concurrent with Mozart’s lifetime.
